What is "Artico leather" or "Man-made leather"?

Mercedes has found a new word creation for their imitation leather. "Artico leather - Man made leather". Presumably, the word artificial leather is too negative. There is a very fine line between marketing their product, being transparent with customers and also following all norms for material declarations.

This material description does not appear to be in compliance with Europe standards. The norms clearly stipulate, that the term leather can only be used when genuine leather is processed. The endeavour of suppliers of artificial leather to describe their material as close as possible to leather has never been stronger.

The cleaning and care of Artico does not differ from other artificial leather.
