Top grain leather is where the grain side of the leather has not been completely removed. It includes all types of smooth leather, including embossed leather and corrected grain. Nubuck, where the top grain is sanded and split leather, is not top grain leather.

Nubuck has a sanded surface on the grain side. - Coated split leather. - Both types of leather are not top grain leather.
