Cat Scratches on leather

Cats are notorious for damaging leather furniture with their claws. Scratches leave light marks on dark leather and dark marks on light coloured leathers. They also leave the surface feeling rough. Repair products are available to camouflage the marks but the actual damage to the surface cannot be fully repaired.

Such types of leather are often used for the body because there is less stress and less valuable leather can be processed. With such leathers, cat scratches cause longer leather fibers from the less dense fiber structure of the split leather to be pulled from the back to the front and then hang out of the scratch.
