Fine leather is an unprotected generic name for all particularly light and supple leather qualities of calfskin and goatskin and the hides soft exotic leather. Fine leather can be porous, but also top pigmented. Usually smooth leather is referred to as fine leather, but also nubuck and suede can be called fine leather.

The term "fine leather" is used for high-quality book covers, bags, wallets and other small leather objects.
