The German furniture quality assurance association (Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. (DGM)) awards the "Golden M" quality label to furniture manufacturers who manufacture their furniture according to the requirements of the RAL-GZ 430 (General quality and testing regulations for furniture). This quality-controlled furniture can then be advertised with the "Golden M" quality mark.

In the case of leather furniture, the leather is subject to emission, smell and tanning chemicals and colouring chemicals. The same applies to the award of The Blue Angel to the leather manufacturers.

The rules for the use of split leather are defined more strictly due to the quality of split leather. In accordance with the requirements of the quality association, split leather is not permissible for the use on seats, backs and armrests. Split leather may only be used outside these contact areas and must clearly be marked as split leather.
